On My Wishlist #1

On my Wishlist is a weekly meme hosted by Book Chick City that runs every Saturday.  Its a fun meme where you get to list some of the books that you really, really want, but haven't had the chance to buy yet.  They can be new, upcoming, or previously released books.  Personally, I am going for either previously released books that I want, but don't have yet.  So let's see what's on my wishlist this week.

Title: Thirteen Reasons Why
Author: Jay Asher
Publication Date: October 2007
Genre: YA

GoodReads

 Summary...

Jay Asher's brilliant first novel is a moving, highly original story that focuses on a set of audiotapes made by a girl before she committed suicide, and which explain to 13 people the reasons why she decided to end her life. Told in a highly effective duel narrative -- alternating between the girl s voice and the thoughts of a boy who is listening -- this honest, poignant story reveals how other people's actions shape, and by extension can ruin, an individual's faith in people. Intensely powerful and painfully real, Thirteen Reasons Why reveals how brutal high school can be, the consequences of spreading rumors, and the lasting effects of suicide on those left behind.

Heavy?  Yeah, I know.  I have been wanting this book for ages, but every time I go to the bookstore, I forget to pick it up.  I may just have to finally order it so I can finally get my hands on it.

Title: Wicked Lovely
Author: Melissa Marr
Publication Date: September 2007
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

GoodReads

Summary...

All teenagers have problems, but few of them can match those of Aislinn, who has the power to see faeries. Quite understandably, she wishes that she could share her friends' obliviousness and tries hard to avoid these invisible intruders. But one faery in particular refuses to leave her alone. Keenan the Summer King is convinced beyond all reasoning that Aislinn is the queen he has been seeking for nine centuries. What's a 21st-century girl to do when she's stalked by a suitor nobody else can see? A debut fantasy romance for the ages; superlative summer read.

Title: Imaginary Girls
Author: Nova Ren Suma
Publication Date: June 2011
Genre: Young Adult, Mystery

Goodreads

Summary...

Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can't be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby's friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes left floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby.

But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood.

With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.

Title: City of Fallen Angels
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publication Date: April 2011
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Goodreads

Summary...

City of Fallen Angels takes place two months after the events of City of Glass. In it, a mysterious someone’s killing the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and displaying their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, leaving tensions running high in the city and disrupting Clary’s plan to lead as normal a life as she can — training to be a Shadowhunter, and pursuing her relationship with Jace. As Jace and Clary delve into the issue of the murdered Shadowhunters, they discover a mystery that has deeply personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen their relationship, or rip it apart forever.

Meanwhile, internecine warfare among vampires is tearing the Downworld community apart, and only Simon — the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics. Love, blood, betrayal and revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

I know, it's sad that I don't already own this book.  I own the other three and haven't really started reading them just yet, so it's not too bad.  I'll probably pick this one up at the end of the month.

So that's it for my wishlist this week.  What's on your wishlist?
